Background
Problem Statement
Climate change is real and it will affect the planet in a number of ways. Scientists predict that global warming will increase the likelihood of catastrophic events happening. Our Planet is suffering and the people on earth face pressing environmental and societal challenges.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be used as a framework to address these issues. The project is led by the United Nations with 193 Member States signed on to it. SDGs are a set of 17 goals that will shape global development for the next 15 years.
The goals focus on these key areas:
- protect the planet
- ending poverty, hunger, and inequality
- sustainable economic growth
- job creation and decent work & prosperity for all
- protecting life from threats such as climate change and disease
- restore balance with nature and ensure peace
